Just thought I'd let people know that (subject to time being available) I'm always happy to help fellow bikers to diagnose/fix problems, know how to service a bike, design mods etc.
I used to be an engineer (control systems) at Ford and was -briefly- a bike mechanic in a London dealer (and a car mechanic) and have a pretty broad range of skills and experience. I've blueprinted and heavily modified several bike engines in the past, shimmed heads, modified suspension, reconfigured lubrication systems, designed and fabricated valve guides/fork yokes etc, made new wiring looms etc. My brother runs a very well equipped MC workshop in London (with lathe, milling machine, ultrasonic carb cleaner, tyre fitting/balancing etc) and his 33 years experience is on tap when I think it he might know more than I.
I'm building up my workshop at my house (near Stroud), including a proper lift, so I can keep my bikes maintained and do some mods. I can't spend hours/days on other people's bikes like I used to in the old days but always happy to help anyone lacking the right tools/experience. I've got a GS911 for my 2 BMWs so happy to use on other people's for diagnostics/resetting service period etc (for a contribution to the £30 a bike that I'll be charged if/when I tip over the 10 bike limit!).
There will be plenty of others with similar skills - just flagging that I'm up for using mine if someone's got a problem/challenge/idea and I'm free
Happy to help
