NB. This ride is now full. Please still add your name by posting below and monitor this thread, I suggest subscribing to this topic. If anyone drops out the next in line will be contacted and promoted to the list above.

This route takes in some lovely roads through Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire. Wending its way through Ledbury, Bromyard, stopping at Tenbury Wells for a cuppa and bacon butty. Then Bridgnorth and on to Ironbridge where we’ll stop for fuel and a bite to eat. From there across to Church Stretton and over the Long Mynd. South via Bishop’s Castle, Clun and Knighton before arriving at the Hotspur Cafe, Shobdon airfield, for a cuppa, cake and a toilet break. From there, like all of this ride, a cross country route via Leominster to Ledbury and back to Ashchurch.

Meet at Starbucks, next to the Ashchurch BP, for a 9:30am departure. Ensure that you get here ten minutes before 9:30, earlier is you need to fill up. There will be a short briefing before we start the ride. There is a scheduled stop at around 70 miles for fuel with another option at 120 miles if necessary. Only fuel at these if you need to, if you have the range to fill at only one please do so as it keeps things moving.

GPS routes can be downloaded from the links below (you need to register as a member on here to do so). GPX for Garmin and more recent TomToms, TRP for CoPilot. No guarantees of accuracy given or implied

This is the proposed route on Google Maps. We’ll be riding this in an anti-clockwise direction.

With stops for views and lunch this should realistically see us back at the start point at Ashchurch at around 6-6:30pm. Food stops will be in Tenbury Wells for a coffee (40 miles), Ironbridge for lunch (75 miles), plenty of takeaway options there and also a stop for a cuppa and cake at Shobdon (130 miles). Bring a drink and some snacks for the various stops if you need more sustenance.

There will be an upper limit of 15 bikes to make this event manageable. Please post below if you want to attend, places allocated in the order of responses. If someone can volunteer to be TEC (Tail End Charlie) then please either post here or message me. A functioning GPS, if you don't know the area well, and a mobile phone (we'll exchange numbers) is all that's required.

Please note that this event is also on our meetup page and the number of places is shared across the two platforms. I will keep a tally on how the total number of attendees is stacking up. Attendance is in order of response no matter which of the two platforms you use. By all means add yourself to both but please state in your post below that you have added yourself on Meetup too and provide your username so I can connect the dots.

If you do find yourself 'off the bottom of the attending list' then still post below that you'd like to come. People inevitably drop out, so keep an eye out here as you may get bumped to attending.

If you put yourself down as attending and find that you are not able to come after all please post again stating that you're pulling out as soon as you can. Please do not just like the idea of coming and the then either not show up or, unless you really can't help it, pull out the Friday evening before the ride as this will potentially take places from others who would have liked to have made it.

NB. We will be using the drop off system, please familiarise yourself with this here.

NB. Please also read the GMSR&T Rideout Ts&Cs, your attendance on this event is conditional on you having read and agreed to these.

Hi Daryl

You're in, just. Carl just pipped you at the post, by joining on meetup an hour earlier, for the final spot. However, making it 16 is OK, I'm assuming that there might be a little attrition (as usual) between now and then anyway. If not we'll cope. Look forward to seeing you on the day.

OK Mandy, sorry that the ride was full by the time you found out about your bike. If a place comes up you're first in line.

Check the "Subscribe Topic" at the top, or bottom, of this page. Also go to the notification options for your account and tick the email checkbox for "Someone replies to a topic to which you are subscribed" and click the Submit button. In doing this you'll get an email in the event that someone else posts on this topic. Could be me stating that there's a place for you or someone else pulling out.

I note that you have gone onto the waitlist on meetup, that's fine, but you won't be automatically bumped to attending unless I do that manually. Again, you're first in line if a space comes up, either here or on there.

A space has now opened up, Mandy R from the meetup group, who was on the waitlist there, has now been moved to the attending list.
