There are now a few new buttons on the post creation form:
These buttons are located above the text window and to the right of the regular formatting buttons. Hovering your mouse cursor displays a small pop-up dialogue that gives a brief explanation of how to use that button. Please note that in the text editor window these will show as BB code, you'll only see the finished result when you submit or preview the post.
Media Embed
This button, icon of a screen, allows you to add media content to your posts such as YouTube videos, Instagram and Facebook posts, Spotify tracks and playlists, various online news outlets and many more besides. Simply click the button to place the media tags into the editor and add the URL in-between them. There's a list of services that you can add and some example URLs here.
Add a Google Map to your post
The unfolded map icon; this allows the insertion of a Google Map into your post. Either just the plan map, a satellite view, street view or a route. Click here for complete instructions on how to use this.
Strikethough
The icon of an S with a horizontal line though it; highlight the text and then click this to visually cross out that text. Useful to show an edit to your post. For example, someone who was coming on a rideout but can no longer make it.
External link
The icon of a square with an arrow pointing to top right; useful when you want a users click on a link to open in another tab of the browser but leave your post in the background to be still there when they then close the linked to page. For example [surl]the web address[/surl]. Please note: This feature is no longer required for any links to URLs outside of gmsrt.co.uk, external links are now automatically opened in a new tab and a small icon indicating this added to the right of the link. However, if you want to open a link to another page on gmsrt.co.uk in a separate tab then this button can still be used.
Link to a members profile
The icon of a head and torso; link to a forum member's profile that you've mentioned in your post. You'll need to add their forum username between the tags. [user]Charlie[/user] for example
Weather widget
The icon of the sun; embed a rolling 5 day weather forecast into your post. See here for full instructions on how to do this. Useful information for attendees if you're organising a ride. N.B. This is a rolling forecast, so only directly relevant for the five days preceding an event.
