Attending:
Charlie
Carl1
Dooby
Andrew (potential TEC)
Baileyboy23
MikeB

A relatively short season opener ride to the Touchdown Café at Wellesbourne Airfield, to the East of Stratford upon Avon. Starting at Teddington services adjacent to the roundabout where theA46, A435 and the B4077 meet.

N.B. Weather dependant, i.e. if significant rain is forecast for Wednesday and the following day looks a better bet then this ride maybe subject to being at the same time but on Thursday 18th. Confirmed as Wednesday 17th :handgestures-thumbup:

There will be an upper limit of 12 bikes to make this event manageable. Please post below if you want to attend, places allocated in the order of responses. If someone can volunteer to be TEC (Tail End Charlie) then please either post here or contact me. A functioning GPS, if you don't know the area well, and a mobile phone (we'll exchange numbers) is all that's required.

Just over 30 miles to the café for an early lunch then onward on a larger 50-mile loop back to Teddington via Edge Hill, Shipston on Stour, Chipping Campden and Broadway.

Departure from Teddington at 11am, return to the same spot should be around 2:30 to 3pm. Please get to Teddington prior to 11am as that’s when we’re leaving, earlier if you need to fill up (please have enough fuel to complete the ride).

A2 licence machines and above only please. Depending on numbers we’ll be riding using the drop off system or possibly looking after the rider behind.

This is the outbound route to the lunch stop in Google Maps.
This is the return route back to Teddington in Google Maps.
Alternative return route back to Teddington in Google Maps

Hi Charlie

I hope you're doing well?

Would love to have done this but alas, I arrive back from Thailand late on the 16th after 7 weeks away from my wife. Not sure she'd forgive me if I joined you so soon after

I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next event though.

All the best,

Paul

Agree, think that wouldn't be a popular move. Enjoy your last day or two of freedom :D

Hi Charlie,

Hi Charlie
You're back!
Though busy with work, I'd skive and join this one but have promised a mate we can replace the EGR valve on his van on Weds so won't be free.
Looks like a perfect mid-week lunch ride.
See you on the next one hope...

Thanks Mike, and yes, great to be back!

Have spoken to Carl and he made it home OK... just. Had to push it the last few yards apparently. What with my issues he reckons that Bologna FC must have lost a home match

Plugged in my diagnostics and it's the rear wheel speed sensor. The one that survived, slightly scarred, the impact of a some road debris in the Sth of France a couple of years ago. Have removed it, cleaned and dressed the reading surface with a file, replaced it minus a couple of the shims to close the gap and cleared the errors. Will need to take it for a ride in the next day or two to see if that fixes it. Will only be temporary until I can get a new sensor (£115+VAT) and fit it. Removal of the sensor itself is easy, the wire it's attached to disappears into the swingarm/hugger and will probably take some work to effect the actual replacement...
