Adding route files to your posts

Post by Charlie »

If you're planning a ride or sharing your favourite routes then doing so within this forum is encouraged. It's suggested that you use the appropriate sub forums and sections such as Chat Room > Routes or a suitable section in the Events sub forum.

Write a description of the route in the text area. If it's a new thread/topic I suggest adding a title to include the area, and country if outside the UK, along with the route distance so that readers can assess suitability for their needs.

The route files can be included in the post as downloadable files by using the 'Attachments' tab below the content edit window when creating your post. The uploads will accept the following common GPS routing files:
  • GPX - Garmin and many other GPS and online route planning applications such as MyRouteApp use this format.
  • ITN - The old TomTom Itinerary file format, modern TomToms now use GPX
  • TRP - CoPilot file format
You can see the Attachments tab in the image below with two route files and an image (the latter incorporated into the body of the post).

Just adding your files using the Attachments tab will incorporate them into the bottom of your post in an Attachments panel. There's no need to use the 'Place Inline' button. Forum members will be able to download the files by clicking these links.

As a courtesy to people without a sat nav, or as a quick overview, you can either add a link to a Google Maps version of your route or even embed this into your post using the instructions provided here.
Sorry, you don't have the required permissions to view images or the files attached to this post. You must LOGIN or REGISTER* to view these files. (* N.B. Registration on this forum is free.)
